In Praise of Shadows Architecture – A Line of Thought is a selection of ideas and buildings by Swedish architects, In Praise of Shadows. The book, published by Park Books, is their first monograph presenting forty works completed between 2009 and 2024.

The studio believes that architectural knowledge evolves through a dialogue between materials and building techniques, ensuring that the journey from concept to realisation is evident in the finished project. By continuously exploring the relationship between space and material, In Praise of Shadows seeks to deepen our understanding of a sustainable future for the built environment.

The book’s design reflects this sustainable ethos through the use of minimal ink and carefully chosen materials, creating a thoughtful balance between content and form. Its structure is inspired by the concept of ‘a line of thought’, with all content organised along a single continuous line running through the book. This approach results in large areas of white space, offering a sense of clarity.
